Therapy at Halden

Therapy is a place to slow down, get honest, and understand what’s really going on beneath the surface. At Halden Psychotherapy and Consultation, we provide evidence-based care rooted in contemporary psychodynamic therapy—the kind of work that looks at both current symptoms and the deeper patterns that fuel them.

We take symptoms seriously—anxiety, depression, chronic stress, difficulty concentrating, sleep problems—but we’re not obsessed with checking boxes or rushing to make them disappear. Our approach aims for something broader and more lasting: helping you understand yourself in a way that naturally leads to relief, clarity, and healthier ways of living.

Our therapists are trained in psychodynamic psychotherapy and integrate other approaches when they’re genuinely helpful, including cognitive-behavioral strategies, mindfulness-based tools, and Motivational Interviewing. We believe in flexibility, not one-size-fits-all treatment.

Each clinician at Halden brings their own areas of focus. Our team includes therapists experienced in:

  • supporting individuals navigating cancer diagnoses and medical uncertainty

  • exploring spiritual or religious questions in a grounded, respectful way

  • working with meaning, purpose, and philosophical concerns

  • helping young adults through transitions, identity questions, and relationship struggles

Whether you’re dealing with longstanding emotional patterns or more immediate concerns like depression, anxiety, and the after-effects of trauma, therapy offers a steady place to make sense of your experience and chart a path forward. Our work is collaborative, thoughtful, and designed to meet you where you are—while giving you room to grow into who you’re becoming.

Fees

We believe that therapy should be both high-quality and accessible. At Halden Psychotherapy and Consultation, we work with each client to establish a clear, fair fee agreement that reflects the level of care we provide and the realities of people’s lives.

Our standard rates are:

  • Initial session: $200

  • Ongoing 55–60 minute sessions: $150

Each therapist may have their own sliding-scale availability. Because of this, fees can vary slightly from provider to provider. We encourage you to discuss your specific situation directly with your therapist so you can arrive at a clear agreement that works for both of you.

We value making thoughtful, depth-oriented therapy more accessible. If cost is a barrier, we’re committed to having an open conversation about options and finding a path that supports your ability to continue meaningful work.

Out-of-Network Support

If we are not in-network with your insurance plan, we can still help you use your benefits. Our clients may receive partial reimbursement for their sessions through out-of-network coverage. We provide clear, itemized “superbills” that you can submit directly to your insurer, and we’re happy to walk you through the process so you know what to expect. While coverage varies by plan, we aim to make using your out-of-network benefits as smooth and transparent as possible.

In-Network Insurance Options

We are in-network with the following insurance companies:

Aetna of Ohio

Aetna of Michigan

We are working hard to be on more insurance panels. You can contact us or check back soon to see an updated list.
